1. Application/Request
You can register for the theory exam at your local Maritime Office. The registration forms can be downloaded via the internet.

The application must be accompanied by a passport photo, a copy of the residence permit, the identity card or the driver’s licence for motor vehicles.

2. Theory exam
After your application has been received, you will receive a registration form for the theory exam. Using the access code provided on the registration form, you can book the exam dates online. The theory exam consists of 60 questions and is conducted on a tablet using computer assistance. One or two answers may be correct, and a maximum of 180 points can be achieved. The exam is considered passed if a minimum of 165 points are scored. Before the theory exam, your personal details will be verified, so please bring a valid identification document. Please follow the instructions on the invitation and bring it with you to the exam.
